　　(a)Declaration Of Policy.—Section 2(b) of the Taiwan Relations Act (22 U.S.C. 3301(b)) is amended—

　　(1)in paragraph (5), by inserting "and arms conducive to deterring acts of aggression by the People's Liberation Army" after "arms of a defensive character"; and

　　(2)in paragraph (6), by striking "to maintain the capacity of the United States".
