The Seoul Defense Dialogue is a multilateral security consultative body established in 2012 to promote peace and stability in Northeast Asia and to discuss measures to improve security environment in the Asia-Pacific region, and this year marks the 8th anniversary of the Seoul Defense Dialogue.
The Seoul Defense Dialogue 2019 invites high-level officials and civil security experts from 56 nations and 6 international organizations under the main theme of ｢Building Peace Together: Challenges and Visions｣ from 4th to 6th of September. During the plenary sessions, security on the Korean peninsula, security in Northeast Asia, peacekeeping operations and cybersecurity will each be discussed. In addition, security issues in the ASEAN region and the Middle East and arms control on the Korean peninsula will be covered in the special sessions.
I hope the Seoul Defense Dialogue serves as an arena where vision for international security issues and substantial resolutions are proposed. In addition, the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense will put utmost efforts to enable participating nations to build confidence and promote mutual security cooperation in the Seoul Defense Dialogue.
